Born in 1965 in Anthony, Pierre Gay was destined for an artistic career from a very early age. Hired in 1984 in Brussels as assistant illustrator to Bob De Moor, he made his debut at the Hergé studios, home of Tintin. His love of the French language led him to collaborate as an illustrator, with Agnès Rosenstiehl and then Jacques Cellard, on works intended to introduce its treasures to the youngest. His interest in the history of institutions led him to produce "Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité, dès l'âge de raison" in 1999. In addition to his illustration work, Pierre Gay has produced numerous book covers as a graphic designer for various publishers, and regularly works for the press as an artistic director. Pierre Gay is also a vexillologist (flag specialist) and heraldist. In particular, he has made a significant contribution to launching the public debate concerning the future flag of New Caledonia.

- Kipling, Joseph Rudyard
Joseph Rudyard Kipling, born in Bombay in 1865, was first a journalist before devoting himself to writing. He immediately found great success with the publication of his works for young people. Among the most famous, Just So Stories, published in 1902, is a collection of stories inspired by his curious mind and his child's view of the animal world. Initially, the British writer had illustrated his stories himself. In many of them, including that of the whale's throat, he addresses his "Better Beloved", his daughter Josephine who died in 1899 from pleurisy. Nobel Prize for Literature in 1907, he died in London in 1936.

- Klein, Severine
Séverine Klein was born on September 18, 19-- (censored) in a hippie community in Corrèze that Jacques Chirac had apparently briefly visited nine months earlier. After briefly studying nude trapeze artist, interrupted due to coldness, she embarked on a career as a herbalist with a passion that was unfortunately not reciprocated: shocked by the inexplicable deaths of two women who had drunk her laxative concoctions, Séverine Klein quickly turned to a more meditative existence in a country without an extradition agreement with France. She finally found her true vocation after the inadvertent birth of her triplets, in order to escape their invasive affection as well as household chores. She thus published her first novel, an admirable portrait of France in the 20th century, La vérité peut attendre (Le Seuil), which was a resounding success, particularly with her cousins in the Jura. Severine Klein expects a lot from writing, especially financially. She is prepared to make a lot of effort to achieve her goals, and even to write new books.

- Jannot, Flora
When I was little, I was rooted in the imagination... I lived in my head and through the pages of books. Then I grew up and reality caught up with me, but I kept an inventiveness that only seeks to express itself. I searched for a long time for the best way to give free rein to it: art, design, writing. Children's publishing finally reconciles my passions: drawing and words, two prodigious tools with which I hope to make children dream. Perhaps in memory of the little girl I was...

- Lafontaine, Hugues
Born in 1954 in Normandy, Hugues Lafontaine graduated in History from the Faculty of Rennes. He moved to Andorra in 1998 for professional reasons, then left for a few years to take a position as deputy headmaster in Perpignan. He learned Catalan and became interested in the history of Andorra and its surroundings. His articles are published in the quarterly journal of the Alliance Andorrano-Française, which continues its online publication under the name Feuillet de l'Alliance. An Andorran personality whose father led a network of resistance fighters and smugglers during the Second World War entrusted him with a copy of the latter's story. The idea for a novel began to germinate. An excursion to a village lost in the Spanish Pyrenees led him to discover a strange plaque in French on the pediment of the church. He had found material for a new historical subject but also for a novel: La Princesse de Sant Julia.

I was born in Brittany and initially embarked on a career as a pilot. Just as passionate about children's literature, I wanted to write short stories for my two children, and our house now looks like a real library because there are books in every room! I wanted to tell my stories to other children and in the course of 2010, a dozen books will see the light of day. So I constantly live in the clouds, during the day in full flight, at night in the dream of writing!

- Larroquette, Jean
Born in 1934, Jean Larroquette spent his first twenty years under the North African sun, where he nurtured his passion for teaching. His next twenty years were in the spotlight in Paris: there he lived out his passion for theatre. Tired of the limelight, he found the sun again for two more decades, in India, augmented by another clarity, this time spiritual, that of Auroville. For fifteen years, Jean Larroquette has oscillated between India and Paris. He retains the same passion for Auroville and for the fullness of life, wherever it may be. This book is his first and his last: as a man of the theatre and a pedagogue, Jean Larroquette prefers speech to writing.

After a literary education and four years of activity in a leisure center, it is in children's literature that I finally found my mode of expression, thus making my love of writing coexist with my experience of children. Imagining stories for young audiences, being as close as possible to what concerns or fascinates them, is the turning point that I definitively took when my daughter arrived.

- Machiavelli, Nicolas
Born in 1469 in Florence, Italy, Niccolò Machiavelli is primarily known as a philosopher, theorist of politics, history and war. His best-known work, The Prince, has been the subject of readings over the centuries that are sometimes very simplistic and far from doing justice to the complexity and nobility of his thought. A lesser-known aspect of his life is that Niccolò Machiavelli was also highly regarded for his humor, which was expressed in particular through his comedies, including The Mandrake and La Clizia. He died in 1527 in Florence.

I had two desires for "when-I-grow-up": to draw or to be a farmer. The first option won out. In 2008, after a stint in Applied Arts and three years in the Comic Strip section at Saint Luc (Brussels), I discreetly entered the big league and can finally draw and tell not only my stories but also those of others! I have several strings to my bow, even if for the moment I am mainly focused on young people! I never stop learning and meeting great people, again and again. Illustration is a world that is endlessly rediscovered.

I have always knitted words. Short ones, long ones that I amalgamate and shape. And sometimes, it's magic, it gives stories! I like to think that writing is like kneading, a much more manual exercise than you think! I feed on everything that inspires me and particularly on genealogy and photography. "Chasing" ancestors gives me an infinite source of inspiration and when I swap my camera for a pen, the images become words and the light my grammar... A real joy!

The arrival of her son, five years later, would be beneficial for her. I have been drawing since my early childhood. A DIY enthusiast and curious about everything, I first opened a store selling personalized decorative objects, mainly for children's bedrooms. In this world, I developed my imagination and naturally, I gradually moved towards children's illustration. Attached to the pencil for drawing, it is now on the computer that I refine my colors, my atmospheres and my light which characterize my style, a mixture of poetry, emotions, humor and endearing characters.

This training led him to work in institutional audiovisual where he met, during reports, a multitude of people exercising the most diverse activities. Today, his imagination exploits this database to feed his novels!

- Perrault, Charles
Born in 1628 and died in 1703, Charles Perrault was a great French writer of the 17th century, mainly known for writing tales from the French oral tradition. He thus transcribed the story of Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Bluebeard, etc., adapting these popular stories to the society of his time. Although many of these tales sometimes seem harsh and cruel to us, Charles Perrault made versions of them much less terrible than those of the legends of yesteryear and voluntarily added morals intended to emphasize the values illustrated by these tales and thus "educate" young children.

Born into a family of artists, Joëlle Petillot grew up between her father's paintbrushes and her mother's piano. Late in the family, her unexpected arrival made her a "little one" for life in the eyes of her three eldest children, the first two of whom could be her parents by age. Paradoxically, the youngest of four was therefore raised as an only child. These differences - which nourished her - developed in her a heightened awareness of the importance of transmission. In her professional life at the Paris Hospitals, writing has always accompanied her, as an outlet. And the most enjoyable transmission there is for her is telling stories.
