A gigantic golden golf ball

It is true that the description of this building as a gigantic golden golf ball is quite accurate. However, looking at the photograph, we quickly realize that we are not on a golf course!
This construction is actually located in Auroville , an experimental city created in India, not far from Pondicherry, in the state of Tamil Nadu. According to its designers, it was intended to be "the place of a universal community life, where men and women would learn to live in peace, in perfect harmony, beyond all beliefs, political opinions and nationalities . "
The building seen in the photograph is the Matrimandir , which is located in the centre of Auroville and, according to its founder Mira Alfassa (called Mother ), is supposed to be its " soul " . It is visible from all parts of the city.
Auroville, a one-way ticket , is the testimony of Jean Laroquette who decided at the beginning of the seventies to go and try with his family the experience of another life in Auroville .
"This is where we set off, my wife and our two young children, in the early 1970s. Auroville had been inaugurated on February 28, 1968, and a few women and men of good will had answered the call of this extraordinary adventure. Coming from all over the world to this red land in southern India, they had begun to save this desert and to try to lay the first foundations of a utopian society where " relationships between human beings, which are usually almost exclusively based on competition and struggle, would be replaced by relationships of emulation for doing good, of collaboration and of real fraternity.
